Effective Workflows using the Revit Energy Analysis Model
Adopting Building Information Modelling (BIM) principles such as early decision making and extensive collaboration are critical to the success of performance design. However, common modelling techniques can quickly become a barrier to effective use. One component that can commonly create challenges to efficient workflows is the Revit Energy Analysis Model, and how it can be influenced and affected by a multitude of modelling practices.
As a third-party vendor and Autodesk Industry Partner, FenestraPro is invested in learning more about user engagement and how to mitigate current issues with the energy model. Our research suggests that there is a lack of engagement with Revit in early design stages due to existing issues with the energy model. For example, we have found that more users would use Revit as a design tool (conceptual & early stage) if the Energy Model Analysis had a cleaner on-ramp.
Through our own user research and product development, FenestraPro has identified several ways to resolve these existing issues, such as:
- improving the workflow from the Revit Energy Analysis Model to FenestraPro;
- supporting the user utilization of the Revit Energy Analysis Model;
- promoting the use of Revit from an early stage in the design process.
Members of the wider FenestraPro community such as tvsdesign and HKS, give us their perspective on how these existing issues within the Revit Energy Analysis Model could be addressed alongside impactful workflows.
